With breathtaking views, serene woodland paths, a healthy dose of history, and an overall elevation drop of nearly 700 feet, this beginner-level trail run had 2019 runners raving that it was one of the best they'd ever experienced!

Full Marathon and 8-Miler

After watching the start, spectators will re-board the train, stop on a bridge overlooking the trail at mile 3, and wait to cheer for their friends and loved ones as they run toward them and pass underneath.

After the last runner passes, the train will then take our 8-Mile runners down the trail to their starting point at Old Penn Haven before returning spectators to the finish area in Jim Thorpe. While they wait for their runner to finish, spectators can enjoy the FOOD, FUN, MUSIC, and VENDORS of the Jim Thorpe Birthday Celebration taking place adjacent to the train station!

*A portion of the proceeds from the 2020 JTARF will benefit Turn To Us, a vital Jim Thorpe area charitable nonprofit that provides assistance to individuals and their families who have been impacted by major or chronic illnesses.

May 11th: Half Marathon "From the Mountains to the Lake to the Mansion"
May 12th: 5K,10K and Team Relays (and FREE kid's fun run!)

Half Marathon: (Starts at 8 am, but because of the shuttle ride up the mountain to start, we ask all runners to park by 7)
The 2019 half marathon course will take you from the beautiful view atop Flagstaff Mountain to the shores of Mauch Chunk Lake to the steps of Packer Mansion. With breathtaking views, serene woodland paths, a healthy dose of history, and an overall elevation drop of nearly 700 feet, this half marathon is sure to please runners of all ages and abilities! Take a look at the course and elevation maps here: https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/2217434362
*Note the roughly two-miles of downhill at the start.

5K, 10K and FREE Kid's Fun Run!
Treat Mom to her healthiest (and most beautiful) Mother’s Day yet. The 5K, 10K, and team relays will take runners around the shores of the beautiful Owl Creek Reservoir in Tamaqua, PA, a short drive from downtown Jim Thorpe. Each lap around the reservoir is exactly 1.55 miles, so the 5K will consist of 2 laps and the 10K will consist of 4 laps. The 5K will start at 8 am, the 10K at 8:45. The Kid's 800m Fun Run will kick off at 9! Afterwards, we’ll cap off the weekend festival with an all-out, family-friendly celebration including music and games!

Running Surface
The half marathon will take you from a paved downhill to the hard-packed dirt/gravel Switchback Railroad Trail to the short grass of the Apple Orchard Trail and back to the Switchback.
The 5K and 10K will take you on the asphalt and hard-packed dirt/gravel around Owl Creek Reservoir.

Unique Race T-shirt
Everyone who registers before 4/8/19 will be guaranteed a unique tech poly-50/50 blend race T-shirt. Runners who register for the Super Trifecta (all three races) will receive two shirts--one for Day 1 and one for Day 2.

Bib Pickup
Half marathon runners can pick up their bibs at the race expo on Friday May 10th at the Inn of Jim Thorpe from 12pm to 8pm. If you can't make it to the expo, we will mail your packet (including your T-shirt) for $12.
5K and 10K runners can pick up their bibs at the expo, near the starting line, or have them mailed for $12. *PLEASE NOTE that day-of pickup is ONLY for 5K and 10K runners, NOT half marathoners.

Pre-Half Pasta Dinner
On Friday, May 10th, the Broadway Grille (the restaurant at the Inn at Jim Thorpe) will offer a pre-race pasta buffet special. Anyone who might be interested in joining us for that pre-race fuel sesh should reserve their spot (and spots for any guests) at: https://runjimthorpe.com/products/pre-half-pasta-buffet-at-the-broadway-grille-pub

Parking
Half Marathon: 625 Lentz Trail, Jim Thorpe PA.
Due to a change in Jim Thorpe Borough policies, and a price increase at the Carbon County Municipal Lot, all participants will park at Mauch Chunk Lake Park for $5. Parking Passes will be available for advance purchase with your registration and at bib pickup. Those who do not have an advanced pass can still park at MCLP, but will not get to park in the sweet sweet lots closest to the shuttle stop.
To encourage car pooling, if three or more runners arrive in your car, you will receive a full refund for your parking pass.

We will have shuttles to return runners and spectators from the finish area back to MCLP running between 9:30am and 1pm.

Spectators for Half Marathon:
Spectators cannot shuttle to the starting area, but they can wait in Mauch Chunk Lake Park to see their runners pass through miles 6-8. They can then hop onto our free shuttle to the finish area to meet their runners there.

Owl Creek 5K and 10K: Participants will park in the lots and on the road around Owl Creek Reservoir.

Half Marathon Transportation to the Starting Line
Because the half-marathon will start on top of a mountain, there will not be parking by the starting line. Free shuttles will take participants from the parking lots to the starting line. The shuttle ride from Mauch Chunk Lake takes approximately 5 minutes. The ride from the Carbon County Lot takes approximately 8 minutes.

Awards
Half Marathon: All finishers will receive a unique finisher's medal. In addition, prizes will be awarded to the top three M/F overall, the top three M/F masters, and the top three M/F in the following age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+

We will also make donations to the Owl Creek Reservoir Commission and the Jim Thorpe Police Department. In addition, Turn to Us, Inc. will receive 100% of any additional donations made through our race registration partner, Run Signup.

Sponsorships
We have sponsorship opportunities available at many different levels. If you or your business is interested in becoming a vendor at our expo, reaching our runners, or simply helping to support a great cause, check out the sponsorship page on our race website:

Welcome! On Sunday, June 3, 2018, thousands of people around the world will gather to celebrate life after cancer. National Cancer Survivors Day® is the day each year that we pause to honor those who are living with a history of cancer for their strength and courage. It is also a day to acknowledge the contributions of their families, friends, and healthcare providers, as well as those engaged in cancer research.

For millions of people living with cancer, National Cancer Survivors Day® is a treasured Celebration of Life observed annually on the first Sunday in June*. As an NCSD event coordinator, you have the honor of bringing this worldwide celebration to your community.

Who is a cancer survivor? Anyone living with a history of cancer – from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life – is a cancer survivor, as defined by the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation.

Please reserve your free ticket so we know how much ice cream and toppings to have available. LOC's snack bar and gift shop will be open.

The evening is special as we make ornaments, have a delicious buffet meal, and Santa visits! Santa can't pack his sled with all the toys we need so we are asking YOU for donations of toys (all ages), books, blankets, and games. We could also use tape and wrapping paper so our elves can wrap the gifts.

There, Pocono Biking will fit you for a bike and provide a bike helmet. Enjoy a ride down the Switchback Trail until you reach Pocono Biking in downtown Jim Thorpe. Return the bike, then head down to the river for your rafting briefing for the 8-mile whitewater rafting adventure! An all-you-can eat buffet will be served midway. Buses will shuttle back to Mauch Chunk Lake.
